Milla y su amigo "tuvimo un encuentro de abrir los ojos en un viaje de negocios a un país en desarrollo donde los valores son algo diferentes a las nuestras, sobre todo en la riqueza absurda de ciertas familias que controlan estas naciones emergentes. Aunque no puedo compartir exactamente lo que pasamos durante nuestra prueba en este momento, puedo compartir este brillante post que Milla sólo escribió en referencia a su experiencia y cómo se relaciona con criar a su hija en el mundo de hoy. Creo que lo que escribió es brillante."

Milla: hice un trabajo con un cliente ( ningún nombre ) que me enteré de comprar a sus hijos "algunas islas " para su cumpleaños . Que?! Sí. algunas islas . bastante ingenioso regalo adecuado ? yo no creo!
todo lo que podía pensar era: " ¡Qué cosa tan mal hacemos" . ¿cómo se puede tener todo lo bueno de la vida de sus hijos por asfixia con esas cosas?
lo que hacen estos chicos tienen que esperar? ¿qué es lo que tienen que trabajar, para lograr en su vida cuando su padre es el relleno "algunas islas" en la garganta ? ¿cómo se puede crecer con un sentimiento de autoestima , de la confianza en que todo es dado a usted y no tienes nada más que soñar ?
Usted está tratando de garantizar una vida de prostitutas y drogas para sus hijos ...
porque si lo único que queda es dar " algunas islas " entonces deben ser inflados con todo lo que puedas imaginar , coches, casas , aviones ... es asqueroso . que es un pecado . Creo que cuando usted no da a sus hijos la oportunidad de merecer todas estas cosas por sí mismos , van a llegar a ser inseguro, odio hacia uno mismo y hastiado hasta el punto de suicidio.
lo que se deja para que ellos quieran , a necesitar ? que ha tomado la muy humana búsqueda de logro y lo enterró en una montaña de cosas que ni siquiera tienen la oportunidad de obtener por sí mismos.
Creo que uno de los padres que viven en esta sociedad , es un privilegio que podemos dar a nuestros hijos , para lograr su propio legado. para encontrar la autoestima a través de la pasión y el compromiso con lo que les gusta .
en este día y edad, cuando las cosas están tan accesible a tanta gente, es lo que realmente necesitamos para hacer de todo para ellos antes de que hayan tenido la oportunidad de trabajar por algo por su cuenta?
Honestamente , ¿qué queda de la vida en que "tienen todo" ? especialmente cuando usted no ha hecho nada para merecerlo ? el odio por la vida, por ti mismo. lo que queda de estos ( irónicamente ) desafortunadas que sueñan y esperan ? una aguja en el brazo es lo que pienso .
se necesitaría una persona bastante excepcional para sobrevivir este tipo de regalos ileso y para ver aún la magia y la belleza de la vida , que todavía se siente impresionado, a mirar el mundo de temor y respeto ... a sentir la emoción de las cosas simples : una sonrisa , alguien que hace algo bueno para usted , un buen libro , una nueva flor , la forma en que el cielo se ve de la mañana, la risa de un niño.
los niños por naturaleza necesitan sentirse como lo han hecho mejor que sus padres para crecer. eso es lo que creo . y si se tiene que alejarse de ellos , sólo tenemos nosotros la culpa de los monstruos insensibles que dar rienda suelta en el futuro.
y lo que es con estos pensamientos en mi cabeza que me escribió este mensaje a mi hija de la hada de los dientes . Creo que es una buena idea.

 i did a job with a client (no names) who i found out purchased his kids "some islands" for their birthdays. wtf??!! yes. some islands. pretty nifty gift right? i don't effin think so!
all i could think was "what an evil thing to do". how can you take everything good out of your children's lives by choking them with STUFF?
what do these kids have to look forward to? what do they have to work for, to achieve in their lives when their father is stuffing "some islands" down their throats? how can you grow up with a feeling of self worth, of confidence when everything is given to you and you have nothing more to dream of?
its almost like as a parent, you're trying to guarantee a life of hookers and drugs for your kids...
because if the only thing left to give is "some islands" then they must be bloated with everything else you can imagine, cars, houses, planes… it's disgusting. it's a sin. i believe when you don't give your kids a chance to deserve all these things for themselves, they will grow up to be insecure, self loathing and jaded to the point of suicide.
what is left for them to want, to need? you've taken the -very- human quest for achievement and buried it in a mountain of THINGS that they didn't even have a chance to get for themselves.
i think as a parent living in this society, its a privilege we can give our kids, to achieve their own legacy. to find self respect through passion and commitment to what they love.
in this day and age, when things are so effin accessible to so many people, do we really need to get it all for them before they've had the chance to work for something on their own?
honestly, what's left in life when you "have it all"? especially when you haven't done a thing to deserve it? hatred for life, for yourself. what's left for these (ironically) unfortunate trustafarians to dream of and hope for? a needle in the arm is what i think.
it would take a pretty outstanding individual to survive these kinds of gifts unscathed and to still see the magic and beauty in life, to still feel IMPRESSED, to look at the world in AWE and RESPECT… to feel the thrill of simple things: a smile, someone doing something nice for you, a good book, a new flower, the way the sky looks in the morning, the laughter of a child.
children innately need to feel like they've done better than their parents to grow up. that's what i believe. and if we take that away from them, we have only ourselves to blame for the unfeeling monsters we unleash into the future.
and so it's with these thoughts in my head that i wrote this message to my daughter from the tooth fairy. i think it's a good one.
